Generally around mid August starts the 7th Lunar month, this is the month where the dead’s are back on earth and they should receive offerings so they can go back in peace a few weeks later. Singaporeans burn offerings in the form of incense and joss paper and papier-mâché form of material items. You can see these bonfires in many places around the country from “heartland” areas to the city center and shopping districts.
